There is a growing number of initiatives aimed at promoting wealth redistribution, many of which have provided inspiration for this project.
Garys Economics is a YouTube channel providing analysis about the causes and consequences of wealth inequality.
The
Wealth Tax Commission investigated the potential impact of wealth taxes in the UK, and published recommendations on how a wealth tax should be delivered. It advocated a one-off wealth tax and has developed a
simulator showing the revenue that could be raised by taxes levied at different thresholds.
Resource Justice is a community of wealthy people in the UK committed to the equitable distribution of wealth, land and power. It encourages and supports people to give away their money.
The
Fairness Foundation has published insights on the UK public’s attitudes to wealth, inequality, fairness and taxation. For example, the group recently commissioned polling on how the public feels about people accumulating wealth via different means.
Tax Justice UK advocates for a fairer tax system and has published research on different forms of wealth taxation. The group has set out six wealth tax policies that it says could raise up to £50bn.
Patriotic Millionaires is a network of UK millionaires advocating for the end of extreme wealth. Its spokespeople appear regularly in the media advocating for higher taxes on income and wealth, and the group was the subject of a BBC Radio 4 documentary.
